You define a fetus as an individual with all rights accorded to an individual - correct? Since you claim that physician assisited abortion is murder you desire to make it illegal. Therefore anyone performing an abortion would be a criminal - correct?

In that case what about spontaneous abortions? These would be helpless "individuals" dying through no fault of their own. Is the mother liable? If you say no, why not? Spontaneous abortions occur sometimes because of viability issues (chromosomal abnormalities, etc) but sometimes for other reasons. Who's responsible for these deaths? Would there be lawsuits from family members because the mom forgot to take her multivitamin during the pregnancy?

For those who want to respond with insults, please don't bother. I'm posing an extension of the logic I see here all the time. If you agree with the logic defend it's extension.

To Tom; The difference between spontaneous abortion and your icestorm example is that of cause. In your example it was the icestorm. In a spontaneous abortion maybe it's an "accident" maybe it's not. Is the mother liable?

Tough question to answer! I am a conservative, but I am on the fence with the subject of abortion.

Spontaneous abortions is a different subject. Many happen for no reason, or as you say, chromosomal abnormalities, or plain stupidity in lifestyle choices while pregnant. Are Tobacco companies libel for all the tobacco related deaths in this country?

BUT, I truly feel that late term abortion is outright MURDER. I think that should be against the law, as well as penalties to anyone that performs the procedure. While we are on the subject, I think parents of minors should be notified. Abortion, like any other procedure is not without complications. Parents should be aware.

I do agree that abortion is murder. However, a miscarriage is entirely different from a person actually having an abortion. For example, when someone dies of natural causes, does that mean that they committed suicide? No, of course not. A miscarriage is the same thing. Life cancels itself out sometimes. It's natural.

As for the mothers miscarrying because they didn't take their vitamins, that's bull. What about women who became pregnant before pre-natals were created? Why didn't all of them miscarry? Perhaps it's because even though vitamins HELP with the health of the baby, if something is wrong with that child, the mother will still miscarry. Period.

For the record though, I don't think abortion should be illegalized. Instead, the reasons that people have abortions should be targeted.

Let me give you an example of the fallacy of the pro-abortion movement.

I could have the egg of a bald eagle in my hand. It's not viable on its own. It couldn't survive outside the egg. If I crush that egg, I would be in jail for 10 years. Do that to an unborn baby, it's called a right.

Which is more inportant to the wellfare of this country? Which should be given a higher place of importance in this country?

Abortion is the deliberate killing of a human being that has committed no crime. The only case where it might be acceptable is where the mother's life is in danger.

The difference between an abortion and a miscarrige is the DELIBERATE act resulting in death.

Your analogy is similar to wanting to arrest someone who is killed on a highway during an ice storm versus someone who intenitonlly kills another person for revenge. No comparrison

I think if a mother-to-be drinks a fifth of whiskey, she should be held liable.

however, if her body is just not built to have a child, she should obviously not be charged.
