I don't consider anyone my true and real friends....
In this world I don't think it's possible. People take advantage of you once they realize you are a nice person. It's like you can't trust anyone anymore.

I have three real friends. There are different types of friends. You have Best friends, good friends, friends, coworker friends.
Best friends: Your best friends are people who will call you to chat whether there's something going on or not. Even when there's nothing to do, they'll come over and sit down and share their day with you, have a beer or a cup of coffee. Whether life is boring or exciting, they are there. You feel a certain closeness; bonded with each other almost like brothers or sisters. Somtimes you may not see them every day, but you know in your heart that if you needed them they would be there in a flash. They'll pass through your mind often just as you'll pass through theirs.
Next are good friends. Good friends are not your best friends, but are people who's company you enjoy frequently and they enjoy yours. You feel bonded enough to go out with them once in a while and invite them to your house party. This is the friend that may call you once every few months or so to see how you're doing. They don't come around you often, but they will look you up once in a while. This level of friendship is similar to cousins...you dont see them often, but when you do it's a blast.
Friends/Running buddy: Next are just friends, which I myself catagorize as "hang out" buddies. The base of your friendship is more of "hanging out together" at the clubs, or if you're older, going shopping or doing a restaurant together. Outside of hanging out, you hardly visit each other. You mainly depend on each other for going out more or less. You might call each other once in a blue moon, but conversation is more casual.
last are coworker friends. A coworker friend is someone who's company you enjoy at work. You like each other's company well enough that you two may get together once in a while outside the workplace, after working hours or on the weekend. Sometimes these friendhsips last even after one of the two people has moved on to another job. They'll still contact each other once in a while. They may put in a good word for you for a job in the future or invite you to their family Christmas party.
Acquaintance: Some people call acquaintances friends, but I don't. An acquaintance is just exactly that..."someone you're acquainted with from a job, the local dance club, the bowling league, etc. No more". You may nod and exchange hellos and make small conversation, but that is not a friend.
And some friendships may become closer and change or move to the next level. A friend may become a good friend, etc.
I hope this helps.

My Mum and Dad, my husband and my children. All the others are nearly 'real' friends but I am not good enough for them.
