I'm wondering how one could go about getting the word out about a charity project i'm working on called the One Million Masterpiece (onemillionmasterpiece.com)
So far I have tried
-contacting other websites in an attempt to secure some free advertising or a mention
-contacting newspapers and radio stations
-sending out emails to family and friends
-send out emails to strangers

I've also made and distributed banners and posters to my local area, including cafes, librarys and internet cafes.

I would suggest you go to the library and check out the book Guerrilla Advertising. It isn't where you say it, nearly as importantly as how you say it.

Spamming strangers is likely to make you plenty of enemies. Unless the "carpet bomb" approach is really what you want, I would avoid it.

Well, what you need to do is get fliers. Its sounds so "blah", but you'll be surprised how effective they are. Go to all the hot spots, including restaurants, cafe's, lounges, etc and just hand them out. But you can't hand out just any flier. Put some work into. Maybe design it with a Santa Clause on it, with some colorful graphics (definitely red and green). Something that will jump out and make people read it. Something that would really make people look is if you and whoever else you're with would dress in Christmas costumes. For example, you could dress as one of Santa's elf's, etc. It will definitely attract children, in which will attract parents too, which would give you a great opportunity to explain what the event is all about. People like things like that...to where its festive, they can have fun, and bring their children. I hope you like the idea!!

Make flyers and post in store windows and bulletin boards. Or pass out at a store. Drop some leaflets or flyers off at banks for their customers to pick up. Leave some at the public library, they usually have a table in front for public use.

If you can afford it, try making a personal website and advertising that way allowing the givers to give online. But you have covered everything.

Is there a local cable access channel that would let you do it as a public service announcement? Just a thought
