Traditionally the fence with the supports showing is yours. The 'nice' side ebing prersnted to your neighbour. This however is only the historic way of knowing who owns which fence and may have changed as the fence has been repaired etc over the years. Otherwise the deeds to the house should show who owns the fence and whther or not it is 'jointly'owned. Get hold of the deeds to check.

I think it's usually the left, facing your garden with your back to the house, although when I lived in a terraced house my side was the right, you should ask your solicitor who did your conveyancing.
It's all changed now though, I bought a new build in the summer and we jointly own the boundaries with our neighbours so any repairs will need to funded jointly.

If there's no deeds stating which side is yours. the general rule is the right hand side of your property when looking at the house from the front.

Check the deeds of the house - it should make clear who is responsible for each boundary of the property.

If you don't hold the deeds (ie if you have a mortgage) then ask your solicitor to check as they will probably be held by the mortgage lender.

yours is the side that shows the arras rails and posts in other words the rough side and I've bought enough properties to know that's always correct
