With all the recent confusion over the new ' Off-side ' rule why not cut through the confusion and just ban it, at least for a trial period of say 1 season ? ...It would certainly make for more entertaining football !

ya..im in favor of it..i mean...you take the outside rule...more chances of scoring, defenses have to be more alert...the teams would spread all over the field even more.....some teams play the "offside-strategy" giving the other team 5-6 offsides...its just ridiculus...give it a try u know...i think some leagues do their pre-season games with no outsides...i'll have to do some reseach on it.....

No because football scores would then become like cricket scores.

The best thing they could do is use television to help when the referee isn't sure what has happened. A classic example is when Spurs scored against Man United at Old Trafford, and the goalie dragged the ball back from at least two yards over the line and the goal was never given.

In my opinion, it wouldn't make for better football. Granted, players would score a lot more, but they would score so easily, and that's what I don't like. The fun of the game is the difficulty in scoring. It's a challenge, and it makes the game more worthwhile and not to mention the goals more meaningful. I would rather have the off-side rule because it gives the players something to play for, instead of being able to score an easy goal minute after minute.

I wouldn't just ban it i would amend it so that you could only be offside if you were over a marker line across the pitch say 25-30 yards out from the goal line.

it would make for more entertaining play and more goals.

the current offside rule is a joke and needs to be brought upto the 21st century.

Yea i know there are ones, not sure what ones though. I think France may be one of them. I'm so def. glad the US doesn't have any rules about naming kids, well except that u can't use just numbers for a name, i think that's the only rule the US has for naming kids and that frankly is a good rule lol. :D.

IF video technology comes into the game then keep the current rule. Play the advantage to the attacking team. If there's a goal then video technology can be used to make sure no one was offside.

Keep the offside rule - instead make it that whoever gets to the ball first earns the right to a throw in when the ball goes out of play.

it would certainly not make for more entertaining football. Just long ball after long ball with a big target man in the penalty box. it would ruin everything good about the sport.

We could make the game even more comprehensible for you by having one player on each team, cutting out confusion with all the goal line scrambles which would make up 90% of the game if we abolished the off-side rule.

Though, I admit the law-makers are taking the p*ss nowadays.

No I would not ban the off-side rule cause football will not be an interesting thing to watch again.
