about two nights ago, i woke up and my arm was just NUMB. i figured i slept on it because it felt like rubber ! (this is just my lower left arm). recently i have had a bit of chest pain on the left, and strain really, which has gotten better. but now i have this. i carry a backpack everyday, and it can get heavy fromt textbooks. right now, its only my left lower arm thats getting numb. and last night it was a trauma to get to sleep because of it. i dont have any severe pain, just the tingling. and anything cold against it feels wet. i don't know if its a pinched nerve, and my mother is hesitant to take me to the hospital, what should i do ?!

THANKS !

I'd say go to the hospital immediately! A stroke is something that can cause such severe damage that you definitely don't want that regret of not going. I don't know if you're a minor or not but if you're having health problems you'd better do something! Fast!

OK, first do you have any one in the family that die from chest pain or any thing from the hart?If not it can be a pinched nerve, work out the arm you know move it and if that does not help then go to the er and get a x-ray and if they cant find anything and you still have the pain even with the pain meds. that you would get if you go to the er then ,go to your doc. and tell them that you need a MRI because X-RAY just looks at your bone not the nerves ok....hope that help and by the way even if you are young you can still have a stroke.....

It sounds like the weight of the backpack is throwing your back out of line, and pinching a nerve. Hospital probably wouldn't help. Leave some books at home, and the rest at school. Not knowing exactly where your back is out it is difficult to suggest an approach.
