The Bible and Quran are full of references to esoteric knowledge.
But one must have that knowledge to see it!

Why? I dunno. I am on the "enlightened" side, but I consider the Bible and Quran to have a bunch of great stuff. Lessons and history.
By enlightened I assume you mean Athiests and Agnostics. Well, in todays day and age, logic is more developed. At the time the Bible and the Quran was written, there wasn't anything close to a standardized logical system, so one system doesn't contribute from another. Now I admit that that doesn't necessarily say anything about the logic of the Bible or Quran or other works, but there is a possibility that lack of current technology and knowledge affected the writings of the Bible and the Quran.

those who are truly "enlightened", I believe, do not see themselves as more sophisticated than older writings. Instead, enlightenment comes when you truly know that no one is better than another, that you never reach the "highest point" of enlightenment...because there is no highest point....it's infinite.
you can't REACH mastery, because you can always better yourself. It's all about the person you want to be and what God, Buddha, Mohammed, whatever you may call the higher (as well as infinite) power wants you to be.
So if someone says they're better than you or the Bible because they're "enlightened"...I'd question that ;)

Because the definition of the movement of "enlightenment" is "to free the human mind from its self-inflicted ignorance".
Concentrating on the "holy" books has kept humans from knowledge of the real world and the laws of physics by which it is gouverned.
I do admit that the pendulum might have swung too far into the direction of materialism and the adoration of money, but I also think we need new answers to spiritual questions. Going back to the bronze/middle ages seems no solution to me.

You do not think that you are enlightened, you know it. When you become enlightened there is no need to divulge because it will not matter to anyone else.

Read both completely, then research them historically and see what conclusions you come to. One of these is fact and one is not.
