Hello Sean,
I wear a shirt to the pool all the time. I have a few reasons not to take off my shirt:
1) Yes, I do get sunburned fast, so when I swim outside I would wear a shirt anyway.
2) I just don't like the look of being shirtless. It has nothing to do with being embaressed (in my case). I am not fat, and I don't think my body is ugly. I just prefer the look of having a shirt on over being shirtless.
3) It's what I am used to do, and I don't see a need to change anything.
You know, it's just a matter of preference. No big thing. Some people like to wear longer swimshorts than others, and I like to wear a shirt. I'm not trying to cover up anything. In fact, I know that I don't cover up much anyway.
I'm not the kind of person to walk around in the street shirtless (for instance when it's hot). And this applies to the sportsground and to the pool just the same.
I sometimes wonder why most people take their shirt off when they go swimming. I think because it's culturally common to do so, and maybe some people find it uncomfortable. I really don't mind.
And tell me, why wouldn't I wear a shirt? Obviously, yes, the shirt gets wet. But that's no big deal. It doesn't get any wetter than my swimshorts. And could you name me any sport where your sportswear stays dry?
I hope this answers your question!

He will be just fine to swim in swim trunks and no t-shirt. I get chlorine on my skin through my swimsuit, so I don't know how a t-shirt would keep it off your baby's skin. As long as you give him a shower as soon as he is done swimming you shouldn't have any problems from the chlorine anyway. Have fun with him!

I like wearing as much clothing as possible. I will usually wear a shirt (sometimes long sleeve), jeans, socks, shoes, you name it. When I go swimming in a pool or the ocean, the more the merrier. It's just fun, and feels really good!

Either they are self conscience of their bodies
or
They just aren't comfortable being that revealing, they find clothes comforting.
I have a friend who has a great body, doesn't mind others being nude, he isn't self conscience. But he won't even go w/out a shirt in his own home except to shower and have sex. He just feels more secure clothed.

Alot of people are self-conscious. But also, alot of people are keeping covered up to avoid getting sunburned because that can lead to skin cancer years later. Remember, some people are more sensitive to the sun than others and burn easily.

My dad does because he had skin cancer and needs to keep skin exposure to the sun to a minimum. Some people think it's more modest. Some people are trying to cover hairy backs or scars. There are myriad reasons why people might do it.

Well if your body was covered in disgusting hair you'd prolly wear a shirt all the time too.
everyone isn't the same and everyone is different.
Passing judgement on people is wrong!

Maybe they are hiding something, like birthmark or acne. Possibly also trying to not get sunburned. Maybe they are overweight and they think it will help hide it. And one more, maybe they want to wear the wet shirt aftwards to keep them cool once they get out.

To cover up a deformity or excess body weight so people won't stare and be rude.

Either because they are concerned with the sun***or they have a poor self image and are worried about their bodies (maybe rightfully so)
