My friend from high school lives in NM and I live in Maine. We would like to plan an inexpensive weekend to get together somewhere between the two states. Someplace with a nice big mall would be really great. Any suggestions?

How about the Smoky Mountains. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. There is TONS of outlet shopping there, about 4 malls. You can rent a cabin for about the cost of a hotel room. If you split the cost of the cabin, it would be very affordable. They usually come equipped with kitchens and a hot tub, very nice and relaxing. It's easy to get around there, the street lights are all marked clearly. I went there on a girl's weekend and it was a blast!

Well, it is not a straight shot in between the 2 states, but the Mall of America in Minnesota is a girl's dream shopping weekend.

Key attractions include The Park at MOA™, Underwater Adventures® Aquarium, LEGO® Imagination Center, Dinosaur Walk Museum, A.C.E.S. Flight Simulation, NASCAR Silicon Motor Speedway, Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Nordstrom and Sears.

I would have to go with Minnesota as well. Should get cheap flights from both places. Some hotels near the mall have a free shuttle bus to the mall and the airport. You may not need to rent a car. I have seen a few specials. Light rail from the airport to downtown.
