yes but you have to connect to that wifi system before you can do anything..go to the little connection thing and look through the avalible wifi connections and connect..just be sure that it is not locked, if it is locked then you have to get the password. But usually, Hotels and Cafes have it free and such.

WiFi connection in hotels and cafes usually adheres to the standards set by IEEE (I believe it's 802.11b/g). So recent laptops with wireless capability (also adhering to these standards), should be compatible with them.
Apart from free WiFi, some cafes and hotels do require a certain fee to be able to access their networks though... Normally, they'd require you to buy a prepaid card which gives you access to connect to their wifi...

Well, not just any. It would have to be a fairly recent computer, say in the last two to three years. If you have an older laptop, you can buy a PCMCIA card or a USB WiFi adapter to get on those networks too.

if you have that 3945 chip you shouldn't have any problems.......otherwise, you may need to install Wi-Fi chip or board.
