To answer your question precisely, here's what should go into your PC to make it a gaming monster :

[x] Intel Core 2 Duo Processor ~2.40 GHz or better.
[x] 2 GB DDR2 RAM @ 667 MHz
[x] 250 GB Hard Drive (Wester Digital, Maxtor or Seagate)
[x] nVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 1 GB DDR3 gfx card
[x] Creative X-Fi Elite Pro sound card
[x] LG 16x Dual Layer DVD burner
[x] LG 16x DVD ROM
[x] Any good 19" LCD monitor with a response time of 8ms or less.
[x] Creative 5.1 Surround Sound speakers
[x] Logitech G15 gaming keyboard
[x] Logitech G5 cordless laser gaming mouse

That about wraps it up. Happy gaming !!!

you need hard drive space (free gb)
i recomend 50-80 gb hard drive

top of the line video card
i recomend radion 7200 or better (might check requirements on the most recent game you want)

dvd drive is a must have

flat pannel monitors are not as great as they seem, however the newer (expensive) are ok. A crt may be hard to come by

you need ram... i highly recomend getting 2+ gb of it, it prevents lag

Honestly, with a $3500 budget, you can build a pretty awsome machine by yourself.

It's not that hard and you will get FULL manufacturers warranties on all your items.
