Why not go there for a visit for at least a long weekend, or even a week? Then you can check out different neighborhoods and know what's in your price range, and to your liking. What's "ghetto" to you might be a comfortable neighborhood and home to someone else, so getting opinions from strangers about a place you know nothing about, is pretty meaningless. If you've at least visited for a week or so, and then asked for opinions, you'd have a frame of reference because you've been there.
