Ok I'll give you £40 build be a clone of Ebay using PHP Mysql database. LOL

honest theres a hell of a lot more to web design than using a WYSIWYG program. most web designers work on around £20 per hour for basic HTML work, ad in PHP / ASP coding and your looking around £35 an hour.

A good web design in HTML 5 static pages with graphics, can sometimes take 40-50hrs and then some more when the customer changes theirr mind, and they do often.

If your going to call yourself a web designer make sure you can hard code in HTML to W3C standards and know CSS . Learn how to program using PHP and or ASP as most sites these days need to be dynamic.

dont' be put off by what I have said, but don't under sell yourself, look on Ebay (wesites) you'll see ads for websites designs there, costing around £100 +

I would like to put to you another idea. Its in the source box. We all sit at home on the computer so why not put our time to use. I do this and I have been fortunate enough to stop my 9 to 5. Maybe it is something you could consider. I never ask anyone to pay so of course the information is all free. No plug, but it is an opportunity that we all let go by until someone shows us the way.

to all those who point out this is CHEAP i say look again. it might be really cheap for a web dEsign, but what is a dIsign. you see you are paying £40 for who knows what. he could give you a 2p chew and say "thats a disign".

Take no notice of the cynics here who think you have undersold your self. It appears you are attempting to build a client base and goodwill in the process. If you can do a good job that great and word of mouth is contagious. I am looking to self emplyment and a web site designer is precisely what I have been scouting for. How do we link up?

It is good to know you are committed in selling your services.
You have 2 problems.

1. You cannot advertise on Yahoo! without paying Yahoo!
2. The way you are advertising is pathetic.

... You are making an effort to apply your services, this is what i would recommend.

Advertising your services is essential, do it in the right way.

Also do not put a price in your advertising, just say 'affordable' and do not use the word 'cheap'.
That is all i will say, i do not spoon- feed.

40 pounds is stupidly cheap. It either says to me that you don't know your market or you do know your market and you offer prices like that becasue you're really crap.
Either way it's not good. Having prices like that will only put people off.

Woohoo!!! I web design also but i charge significantly more that £20 - £40 for my service.

Think bout putting your price up cause you will never make any money otherwise. Just a thought.
