How do i prevent people logging onto, and using my wireless internet connection?

I think other people have a serial number or something to type in before they can get on wireless. How did they do this.

I'm using Belkin if it makes a difference.

You need to setup security on your router.

Check your documentation, there should be a section that will allow you to assign access to your wireless connection by MAC addresses. Hence you list the MAC's for the pc's on your network.

And this blocks everything else.

Locate the manual that came with your wireless router. Your wireless router has an IP address. Through your web browser on your PC you can connect to your router using its IP address. This info should be in the manual. The router should also have an administrative ID and Password. This info should also be in the manual or install guide. Once you have logged into the router you can secure access to your router . The steps for doing this should be menu driven. I have done a couple for friends (Linksys and Netgear) and both have been menu driven. The process sets up a encryption code that will have to be present on the devices trying to connect to your router which means there will be instructions on how to port the encryption code onto your PC and any other PCs or Laptops you want to use your connection.

if you have a secured connection where others have to type in the serial number, then they shouldnt be able too. Are you just assuming that they have to type it in? or have you even set it up so that they have to - if you have not yet set it up, then figure out how to do it. If you have or it was setup that way when you purchased it, then no one should be able to access it unless they somehow found out ure serial number.... maybe u can get a new one? a new number

Connect computer directly to your router.
Login into your router.Set security as 64 bit or 128 bit
64 bit - u can use regular words or numbers as password
128 bit - u have to use hex decimal number
save it

now from wireless card from ur computer, search for ur network
