It's right--I want to live free and without the violence of most countries you see on tv. I do not want terrorrists in my neighborhood--or my country--I support the war on terrorr 100%.

Terrorism is a violent act that is planned to be carried out and, if successful, results in death. If it is not dealt with it only gets worse and history proves this does it not?
Look at it this way, if someone hits you and you allow it would they not hit you again or begin to hit others because you sent a signal it was acceptable by not protecting yourself(right). There is not the element of leadership here in this example I'm speaking of equals here. If many got involved with enabling(wrong) then the situation is escalated by those that accept it and actually teach and train that it is ok which is wrong. The "right" should always teach the "wrong" it's called modeling leadership skills.
It was wrong to hit our twin towers and go after our government and Americans-plus in a catastrophic manner. If these people had real leadership skills then they would know that communication takes place between leaders and nations. Osama, for example is not the leader of a country....he is self-proclaimed therefore has and had no authority. If he had a beef his country is where he should have started and then talks with our nation might have been arranged...IF the concern was a subject to be discussed. The former leader of Iraq was all for and about terrorism. America is not perfect but we are assisting in the freeing a country both emotionally and physically and at the same time acting on zero tolerance of world wide terrorism...not just our nation.
This is no different than a child hitting a parent. Correction and teaching is not a child's role nor is beating up a parent because they told you NO or you got your butt spanked. It is only a fool that suggests confusion between the role of parental authority and the role of the child who is trying to grow up and learn. This includes learning that there are boundaries in life that will not be crossed. If they will do it to the parents they will do it to anyone. Some don't realize that terrorists have no lines they will not cross because they are spiritually inmature and for what ever excuse choose to take the wrong approach and must be dealt with. Unless, of course people can get their tax money back and hire a contractor to enlose their dwelling in a thick steal box resulting in total isolation... ; |

The war on terror is essentially a quest for peace. The problem with that is peace cannot be attained through war. Americas foreign policy is the reason this war started. And it is very sad that we went looking for the man responsible for 9/11 and still have not found him. George said he would not rest until those responsible were caught and has failed miserably. The war on terror has left our country vulnerable to another attack. Do you really think our police forces can or are capable of stopping an attack on our soil?

The war on terror is a complucated issue. I think that the war is not being fought the way it was intended- we went in fighting terrorism, now we are fighting for another country's ablity to stand on its own. Many americans are loosing loved ones over helping people who the majority don't seem to want it. but at the same time, we can't pull out now, that will show that we have been defeated and will open the door for more attacks.
Basically i think it was wrong to switch motives, but it's right to defend our safety.

1. You can't declare war on a tactic.
2. If I decked you and then said, "You'd better not attack me for no reason," you'd think I was crazy. So why does the US get a pass for its aggression? Why are yanks surprised when the result of their countries actions come back to bite them on the rump? The US _caused_ 9/11 by its own terrorism (aka "foreign policy") on other nations.

hmm its really hard to fight terror - as it is more a state of being than anything physical. i guess its one of those non-existential BS .. where you are fighting your own fear
you cannot completely fight the terror. i mean look at the ira, they stopped doing **** when they wanted to, not because of the brit govt. etc.
i think eventually, when both sides have taken enough casualties, more people will realize that war is crap and would end up smoking some joints together!! then i am sure Amsterdam would flourish eh.. the cafes

terror is the new method of war. it targets innocents and civilians, not military establishments. there are no set armies with terrorists that can be fought conventionally. they are fighters that intermingle with the civilian population and put inncocents (women and children) at risk for their lives.
terrorists have no care for human life.
the war already began. the terrorists started it and it's important to recognize the threat and fight back, because with them, anyone and everyone is a target. anyone who believes the war on terror is wrong is naive and not informed of the threats facing us in today's world.

We have before us an ordeal of the most grievous kind. We have before us many, many long months of struggle and of suffering. You ask, what is our policy? I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark, lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory -- victory -- at all costs, victory, in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.

It is right....we need to protect ourselves.
But wether the war in Iraq is helping or hurting the War on Terror is still up for debate.
IMHO it is just creating new trained terrorists.

Well I think that it is perfectly right to have a war on terror, as if we can never fight for peace in our countries then how can we ever expect to live in a safe enviorment? We must fight to bring peace to our fellow nations and countries.
