I'd buy at least a L if not an XL. T-Shirts have a tendency to shrink in the dryer even if they say preshrunk.

At least a large. Some manufacturers make better quality shirts than others. I am very petite and I fit in some large. I would go for extra large and if it is 100% cotton, extra large.

40-42 is generally a medium,though some brands run big
i would go with the large ,in case of shrinkage

Always go large or extra large on Tshirts. They are much more comfortable that way. Unless you are trying to show something off.

it you want a tight fitting shirt get the medium if you want a regular fit get the large and if you want a kind of loose fit get an extra large

I think a medium should suffice mate. I use the same for buying a Shirt - Sportscoat :: i think medium should fit fine!!
