Richard Marx's song about a guy who is accused of killing his girlfriend Mary, made into a video in 1991 in Hazard, Nebraska.

It's unclear who killed Mary. He describes her as "walking alone", then the police came and arrested him the next day. But the town already hated him because he was an outsider he came to Hazard when he was seven, and everything thought that "he wasn't right" and they spread "rumors and lies" about him.

The song itself never says. However, there were two versions of the video. One version seemed to indicate that the singer killed her; while the second version made it look like he was innocent.

We don't know, the song just indicates that it wasn't the singer who did it. He was wrongly persecuted by the locals and driven out of town.
