Me thinks Barry Sanders 'abruptly retired' due to the demise of his friend and football great, Walter Payton.
I believe that in his heart, he felt that as much as Sweetness did for football,
football should have done more in helping him to get that needed transplant.
The Super Bowl ring, all those stats and other accomplishments didn't mean anything while lying there in the hospital praying for a donor.
Some may appreciate that when he left this world, he was at home and not in the hospital.
RIP Sweetness.
