Why is this?

Because people very rarely use "snail mail" anymore, with the introduction of the internet, email and instant messaging, people can correspond faster and quicker with each other.
My pen friend and I now speak on instant messaging every few days.

By the way no one is 2 words not 1. Most people have "e-pals" or now (pen-pal by internet/e-mail). I still like the idea of having a hand written letter than a typed one. I'm sure there are some people that have pen-pals.

People are plain lazy and busy these days. We all used to have penfriends when we were younger...but we were also allowed to play outside!! lol Also, with the boom of mobile phones and the internet/email, it is easier to keep in contact with someone across the country/world - quicker to type, edit and send. And no relying on postal system! lol

yes its such a pitty isnt it ??? living with the emails and sms now , so sad ... i mean ok email is great or sms from time to time but the real letter is so much different
