If you unplug it and plug it back in while in Windows and the found new hardware balloon doesn't come up, you either have PnP disabled or not working right, your USB root hub needs to be reinstalled or your mouse is dead.. Also very unlikely but could have an IRQ conflict. It would take me way to long to describe each of these failures so just research how to do each one, shouldn't take too long.

If you are using a wireless system as batteries suggest:
A) Ensure you have reconnected the two devices, normally you have to press a button on the base and one on the mouse it's self. (Refer to the operating manual)
B) Ensure you are using the correct batteries
C) Ensure the base is easy for a signal to be obtained
D) Remove all other wireless objects and metal i.e mobiles and phones.
Option A is the most likely the two devices need to be connected...

Have a look in Control Panel to make sure you have not accidentally changed a setting - otherwise I think you have a dead infra-red rodent and it will need replacing. Any chance you still have the cable connected mouse that you can try out?

There might be on the bottom, a small reset button. Or if you have a wireless mouse, there might also be a reset button on the receiver block.

It perhaps cuz of your motive force isn't astounding. get rid of your previous mouse motive force or correct click at Mycomputer >> in Hardware tab click devicemanager >> see Mice and different pointing instruments >> and get rid of your mouse. After that merely restart your device your computer can come across your mouse and computerized set up your mouse motive force. If it no longer chanced on motive force you should use your motive force CD that come whit your mouse for set up it.
