Yes, it could be and she could have been permanently disabled or died if the flow of oxygen to her brain was cut off for any length of time.
If he doesn't has a history of violence other than this incident, it could be that the "playing around" did get out of hand that this type of "playing around" should stop entirely and he is not likely to be punished legally and she will not be able to prove abuse.
If he does have a history of violence, substance abuse or any other type of arrest, she may be able to prove it was intentional and he may have to do time for assault.
To prove attempted murder, there would have to at least be circumstantial evidence that he intended to inflict harm and wanted to kill her...if he called an ambulance, that would likely shoot that theory down.

It sounds to me like an accident.
If they were playing around, then I have a funny feeling she must have been pretty rough herself in order for the hubby to think he had to be more aggressive.
If he ment to on purpose, then she has the right to want out and even press charges. But I think if the courts hear they were playing around, no charges should be brought against him.

Stuff like this shouldn't be attempted without something called a "safe-word", which you say when you think things are going too far... and usually you don't let someone strangle you playfully unless you REALLY trust them...

IF she was not playing around why would he do this to her???? Did he do it accidently or was it done on purpose to really hurt her? This is abuse if he did it on purpose but if they were playing around then no it is not abuse if it was accidental.

She ought to have him put in jail for assault. Oh well. I don't blame her for wanting a divorce. She'll get everything she asks for in the divorce because of that sh*t.
