In a couple of weeks I am going on a hen weekend and one of the activities organised is a pole dancing lesson. We have been advised that the best clothing to wear would be hotpants, heels and a sleeveless top. Well, that's all well and good for the other girls but I'm of the larger persuasion! I'm not huge ( a 12-14 on top and 18 on bottom) but I really don't think hotpants are a good look on me. Can anyone advise an alternative, bearing in mind I need bear legs? Alternatively I can ban cameras and bite the bullet so to speak, but still need to buy something in a size 18. Does anyone have any bright ideas?!

To trickyrick32: I want to do this as it's a bit of fun and fantastically good exercise! It is in no way demeaning and your ignorance is laughable.

Even though they are recomending that you wear hot shorts and the sleeveless top, it realy isn't necessary.. I am an Dancer and I also sell my own line of Poles, so with that in mind, Just wear a regular pair of shorts and a T-shirt. First place your not going to be learing how to do invert tricks its a hen party. Secondly, They are just going to most likely teach and show you how to walk sexy around the pole, some moves holding on to the pole ( not climbing it) and lastly, mostly the tricks that you will learn will be the basic's like the fireman or crouch which does not require you to be half naked or wearing hot shorts.
I would wear the longer shorts if that makes you comfortable and maybe a cap end t-shirt ( the t-shirts that are just a little bit shorter than the regular short sleeves).
You could also call the location of where the Hen party is going to be and explain to them, and they also can give you suggestions.

Screw what the guys say. I think it's a good idea. Since you have to bare your legs I'd go with Sofees or some type of med. length comfy short (like workout wear). Maybe but biker shorts under them if you don't want any exposure or wanna have an extra tuck. If you do decide to wear something sleeveless you can get those tanks that are racerback and the material is like a sports bra. They also help you suck it all in. Otherwise don't go with a top that's too baggy, it'll only get in the way.

I used to pole dance. You really need to have bare arms and legs so you can get the friction you need. Your shorts cannot be too long because you will most likely have a couple exercises which will require holding yourself up with your thighs.
You are going to be with all females, right? Don't worry about your body. All girls hate their body. Wear a sleeveless shirt (doesn't have to be tight.) Wear short shorts (they don't have to be ridiculously tight either.) The whole point is to go and have fun.
You will really look silly if you are slipping and sliding all over the pole because you wore the wrong clothing.

I had pole dancing lessons at my local gym for a laugh it was great. Go for it... hotpants and heels you will feel more into it then. Dont worry about not looking good, heels can do wonders and pole dancing makes you sweat so looking good will go straight out the window anyway. You will have a fab time, it is fantasically funny to see everyone trying to girate around a pole!

Get some exercise shorts. They will hold you in and bare legs. Plus I hear that you can bang yourself up on a poll. Just wear spandex things to hold you in and have fun. Id bring a pair of sneakers too in case.

If everyone has to have bear legs, I think everyone will be laughing too much to notice your bum and gut.
Have you got naturally hairy legs? then don't shave, otherwise you will need to hire the bottom half of a bear costume, (or maybe a gorilla costume would do)

are you able to apply makeup or a creme to cover it? or in basic terms positioned on a bandage and tell your instructor which you have cuts on your wrist which you do no longer prefer to coach. Edit: forget approximately concerning to the cuts and be effective in your self. they are on your wrists, no longer your face. you ought to not be focusing on your wrists, you would be specializing in dancing. The cuts will heal so forget approximately approximately them and dance.
