Food is a good choice. Toilet paper, dishes, pots and pans, shower curtain, bath accessories of any kind. He must have some stuff. Men hate curtains, so if his windows have no covering, I would go with blinds. Home Depot or Lowes will custom cut the blinds for no extra charge. Rugs, depending on the type of flooring he has. Novelty shelves for decorating if he has anything to display. How about a bbq grill - so that he can cook for you?!?! If you go that direction, don't forget the necessary utensils to make cooking safe, charcoal briskets, and the long lighters that they sell for this stuff. And now he has a yard, and has to maintain it. Every man needs a hammer, a good screwdriver, flashlights, ladder, tools, etc. Hope this helps.

My son's house burned down Dec 2 so we went through this also....I would start in the Kitchen....He will need a simple set of pans (skillet and sauce pan if nothing else)...an electric grill would be nice...makes for fast easy cooking....cooking utensils....a set of silverware....drinking glasses.
Another Idea is cleaning supplies...fix him a laundry basket full of everyday cleaning items.
If you are wanting something to make it more "homey" you could get him some wall art/decorations...throw pillows, etc.
Good Luck!
