I think it was started by women. Blondes have more oestrogen and are therefore more fertile, this makes them more attractive to men.

It makes sense that other women who are jealous would make this up.

However, I think the real reason is that attractive women tend to act less intelligent to impress men. The fact is, men are not attracted to intelligence, like women are.

My girlfriend is very intelligent, but having an intellectual conversation with her is not something that makes me attracted to her.

However, when is fun, energetic and bubbly, she seems sexier than ever.

Just my two cents

p.s. To molly101, men don't laugh at blonde jokes because they hate women, though feminists seem to insist we do. Men and women both laugh at jokes that feed on prejudices, such as racism, homophobia etc... This is unfortuante about humans, but to say 'oh it's cos all men hate women!' seems only to eek of your own sexism.

most likely the media. a long time ago well not that long a lot of models and people on t.v were blonde and they usually got type-casted as stupid. there's this one show I think it's called Threes Company but it's old and in it the blonde girl is the stupid one. I think it started in the media and models were seen as dumb and all they had were looks. I guess it just depends though. Because I know some natural blondes who say they are dumb blondes and proud of it.

It must go back to the days of Hitler. His thoughts of having only blonde's on the earth had to be him thinking that blonde's are the only ones dumb enough to go along with his plan.

Thankfully us blonde's have risen above and beyond that and now I laugh at the jokes. I am successful and living a dream come true, so blonde's can succeed and can do algebra too !!

: )

Rumor was probably started by jealous brunettes, who didn't like all the attention men were giving to blondes. I've met a lot of very intelligent blondes. My cousin Kim is a blonde, and she has a Ph.D in Library Science. I also knew a very beautiful blonde who was a radio astronomer with several Ph.D's! Blondes are not stupid! Just another dumb stereotype.

Well I don't think so...
I believe that is only a people's stereotypical perception of blondes. But I believe that there are still smart, thoughtful and profound blondes. There are non blondes that stupid, shallow and narrow.

I think it started in the 50's with movies where actresses such as Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield played dumb blondes. But I could be wrong. They unforunately died too young, and spent most of their young lives trying to prove they weren't dumb.

I am not a blond but know alot of very intelligent blondes. These "stupid" jokes run in cycles.....the same ones I heard as a child only called "moran" jokes...then it was "pollack" jokes.
