one among your Ram is both free or toasted. get rid of both and sparkling contacts by technique of rubbing them with an eraser. Insert them decrease back and attempt lower back. If that would not settle on the challenge, that is time to bypass paying for. be effective to purchase an same type of RAM BUS and if conceivable an same type; or you may ought to discard the former one.

is this while booting or running if running thats normal .
try this , after you first turn your computer on & its finished booting & the monior has warmed up ,
reboot then as it stars to boot on the first black screen while it is post testing , in the top left hand corner you should see some numbers counting up , this is your ram test count , if it goes up to 512 then it's ok , if not , a segment of the ram stick may have failed (unlikely)
depending on the make & type they're not that expensive , & adding a little extra ram if you have the room is a great first step in upgrading

You have an on-board graphics adapter. These share memory with the system for graphics rendering. Thats why you are missing 32mb from your total actual RAM.

Your video card uses "shared" memory. That means your RAM is being partially used as dedicated video RAM.

512 is just a number. take 1 out and see if you get 256 then do the same on the other if 1 reads less it was a factory mistake

Have a look through your bios settings, you're looking for graphics aperture size... if you have a graphics card installed you can set it to zero, that should get you the rest of your ram back
:D

all modern moniters ie.your computer screen keep aside a part of available RAM.
so that 32mb is being used to display all the things on the screen.
this is very normal.
