I'm just a non entity , I offer no solution, I have read other answers posted on a similar question. But it seems simple enough to me , stop jailing so many people or build more prisons !
My recent 'shocker's was to read about a peado who was due to go down for 6 months (6 months only)????
Not enough room to lock him up so suspended sentence, if he commits another similar offence and maybe murders a little kid during his crime, he could be having to do that time on top of his suspended sentence, well thats OK then???? What do you think???

I think it's about time we had a lot less law and a lot more justice and common sense.

Let's see genuinely tougher sentences handed out to those who really deserve them-the car thief who mows someone down while driving with no tax or insurance at 90mph in a housing estate, the rapists, murderers, armed robbers, burglars and of course the paedophiles.

I have no doubt I've missed a few but you get the idea....

Personally I would tattoo paedophiles. On the forehead.'Paedophile'. Once they're rehabilitated I'd add 'reformed'. That way we'd all know that they were safe(?)-and where they were-thus saving the police lots of time, money and paperwork on keeping track of them.

We don't necessarily need bigger prisons or more of them-we need the criminals to be scared of the length of the long arm of the law and squashed by the full weight of justice when it reaches them. Maybe, just maybe, if we made our justice system something to be feared instead of laughed at there would be a darn sight fewer crimes in the first place.

Jail is so easy these days criminals even get paid more than their victims do in way of compensation and getting the right to vote they also get more life comforts ie, TVs, games, x-boxes, pool tables etc that everyone else in society has to pay for.

They should revoke their human rights and they should bring back capital punishment (death) that will stop over crowding in prisons, and wardens should make their lives a living hell that might make people think twice about it before committing a crime and repeat offenders won't want to go back to jail.

The paedo that go off on suspended sentence is wrong morally and ethically and he should be hung now before he commits a more serious crime.

the two examples you gave are the same as what the government come out with , but think about they give lesser sentances because theres not enough places what does this say to theses people , they now way up the odds as they know if they get caught doing what they are doing thy know there sentence wont be very long , so what the government has created is a vicous circle that will never get any better tougher sentences and and examples need to be made .

sadly the situation we see are selves in today is by design and the implications are not good for the nation , if you look at the U.S they have the same problems . basically we are being screwed.

The poedo in the news today got off because the judge at his trial decided he was not a danger to the public and was following instructions received in a letter written by the Home Secretary - The Reid! From what I have heard of this fiasco, the accused had been downloading child porn from the web. In UK this is a crime for which the punishment is a minimum of one year in prison. So, I am asking why has this poedo not gone to jail for a year, crowded or not?

EDIT...what we have here is a Home Secretary - the Scotch Reid interfering in the due process of English Law. The English are supposed to have an independent judiciary but Scotch Reid - a Communist criminal thinks otherwise. Wake up England.

Deport all the foreign criminals immediately, free all the OAP's that have been imprisoned for not paying the Council Tax and charge Blair, Cherie, Brown, Blunkett, Clarke, Falconer, Reid and the Labour cabinet, past and present, with Treason and instead of sending to prison let the public stone them then publicly execute them!!!

Deport all foreign places criminals on the instant. convey back the death sentence. Castrate all Paedophiles, rapists and perverts. convey back compelled labour, no priviliges, existence ought to intend existence and if that doesn't act as a deterrent feeding them McDonalds huge-unfold and not something ought to kill off some (see large-length me). If that doesn't artwork then start up reducing off hands and so on like they do in Islamic states then re-verify the situation. Oh, and ban the ecu from intefering in British affairs and ban all Liberals from detention center boards. Why are the Yorkshire Ripper, Dennis Nielsen and so on nevertheless alive?

Send them to Sangette in France. ;-)

Or...more likely, let's build larger 'super' facilities somewhere that would provide a jobs boost for an economic rebuilding area and a place to house a large number of criminals.

Letting them off is no answer.

If you committ the crime - do the bloody time!

Bring back hanging and sort the whole justice system out so that these stupid lenient sentences are not handed out all over the place. People should be afraid of breaking the law - not looking forward to doing crime and getting away with it.

Build more prisons, like Blair promised years ago, and stop jailing pensioners for non-payment of council tax.
