Hand on heart money does not motivate me i would much Rather help someone out have peace, love and joy in my life and live a good life with God. But that being said money actually does bring a form of happiness even if it is fake happiness or short-term it is still there and people crave happiness so they crave things that make them happy be that money, items or alcohol. So when the opportunity of more money comes up people will go for it as it brings them a form of happiness even if it is not true happiness. But some people are just content like me and you with what life gives us and with the blessing of God and living for others but some are not happy with that so they crave the things that give them their joy in life.

Yes we live in a society purely motivated by $$$$$$$$$$$.
I can work no harder than I already do. I'm a Virgo and I strive for excellence and perfection. Money wouldn't change my work ethic too much, because I already give my all.

Humans are generally motivated by the need for energy. Human societies are formed in places where it is much easy to get this energy. Urban cities are highly populated because of the standard of living there and the standard of living in any society is a measure of the ease with which energy can be aquired per capita, that is the cost of energy... get the picture!
The society is motivated by the need for energy (physical and spiritual) and the many questions that are yet to be answered.

You can't do anything without money. It makes the world go round but in the end the things that you own start owning you.

I wouldn't work harder. If anything, I'd do the job more half-assed.

I am & they haven't (much).
But money is not the only thing to motivate me; I could earn way more if I was prepared to commute.
