Sounds like you've picked up a worm of some kind. Firstly, how up-to-date is your AV definition file? If not very, update it and run the scan again. If it still doesn't pick anything up, you could try the following:
Monitor switching off; this could be your power settings. Does the monitor turn off during a period of inactivity? If so, go to [start>control panel>power options]. A window will open up and you will see the options for your pc. If neccessary, change the "Turn Monitor off" setting to a longer period or "Never"
PC switching off; could be your CPU is over-heating. Turn off the PC, wait 10 seconds, then switch back on. After the self diagnostic, press the key to get into the BIOS (normally or ). The screen will go a solid colour (most are blue) with white characters. Look down the list and you'll see an option called "CPU settings" (or words to that effect - BIOS differs from manufacturer to manufacturer) check the "CPU overheat" section. Is it set to sound an alarm and slow the system or to shut down the system? *** changing settings in the BIOS will seriously cripple your PC if you don't know what you're doing ***
I-tunes; you dont specify what you mean by "won't work" so can't help here.
Video on web; could be you're missing the correct codec; do you get an error message? If so go to downloads @ microsoft.com for codec updates.
Cursor; what happens to it? Does it freeze in place? Change shape? Go AWOL? Or does it jump to an obscure corner of the screen? If the latter, this a problem with the mouse; changing the drivers or mouse itself should cure that one. The others are probably due to zero system resources; do at the bottom of the window that pops up, check the CPU usage; if it's higher than 95%, that could be the reason you lost the cursor.
Text file off the net; are you downloading the text files and opening them or opening them at site? Never, ever choose to open a file you havn't downloaded and scanned with (up-to-date) AV! If you've done that, then the files could be corrupt. However, be warned; if a text file contains unusual characters, it COULD (only COULD, not IS) be virus source code.

I know... Your computer is f*cked.
I suggest you get as much of your info and files off the PC, format the hard drive and re-install a clean copy of your operating system. It wouldn't hurt to do a full virus check either.
If you don't know how do to this, pay someone to do it for you.
