There was an article in the paper yesterday where they found out that some of the Jewish women in the concentration camps were forced to act as prostitutes for the slaves, 'to keep morale up'. My question - would it be unethical to write a work of literature on this event which has been submerged by history?

And would I especially be precluded from writing on it as I am a man?

I bet the Nazis didn't do half of all the things attributed to them. Now sex slaves? Funny.

No it would not be unethical to write about it. And no to the other question. If people can write about the medical experiments done on Jews in concentration/death camps than you can write something on Jewish women being sex slaves. It's all a part of history.

This has been covered a great deal in history books especially those written from a feminist perspective. There has been a great deal of accurate research done as well on the Japanese women and also more recently the camps in Bosnia. If you feel that there is a need to deal with this issue I urge that you research and present it. The emotional ramifications of this were terrible and many of these women had brothers, husbands and fathers that were made to stand by helplessly and witness the pain their family member endured. I can't imagine a terrible situation such as this and lets hope that this world turns itself around so history doesn't continue to repeat this.

of course it wouldnt be unethical if u wrote about this subject it is important that the disgusting and terrible acts put apon the Jews should be remembered and kept alive in history to ensure it never happens again. While writing it though you would have to be extremely sensitive and i would doubt you would get any new info because i watched a documentry on this subject and they couldnt uncover any of the poor women forced to become prostitutes therefore most of ur writing would be from secondary sources.

Everything that happened in concentration camps was unethical, and I think making people aware of the atrocities that happened is the duty of those that know about it. I think those involved should be shamed and I think these women that suffered deserve to have their story told so that people can understand just how awful things were. History should be told. We need it to help make sure the same things don't happen again.

Highly unlikely, It is accepted that Jewish Women were given the chance to work as prostitutes, as an alternative to immeadiate death and I remember a film on TV where this was portrayed, and it is quite possible such arrangements were made to satisfy the elite Trusty prisoners or capos, whether by dictat of the "German" guards or on an ad hoc basis by the Capos or Trusties, who whilst themselves prisoners organised much of the day to day running of the camps.
Concentration camps are a dodgy subject, keep to the surface, Evil Nazis killed 6 million Jews, do not investigate further or it turns nasty, like you find the auction of murdered Jews posessions were very popular with ordinary Germans, Ordinary Germans voted Hitler to power on an anti semetic platform in 1933, and the unanswerable question, why did so many Jews go quietly to the Gas Chamber when their death through rebelling would have crippled the whole process for several minutes giving their fellow Jews extra time, Had they died on the reception platforms or fled the trains and been gunned down en route the transport of bodies would have caused catastrophic delays to the program, this is where the absence of "Love thy neighbour" and "Laying down his life to save his brother" from the Jewish Religion these were the word of Jesus Christ, kick in and one undertands something of the German side of the equation. When I started looking at this I was shocked that I found myself seeng this side of things, 100 000 Jews in a Camp Guarded by 22 Waffen SS, why the hell did they not riot and some escape, beats me. Christians would.
Think on this also, Oscar Schindler passed doctors dentists all sorts of Middle Class Jews off as Working Class, leaving the skilled workers he purported to be saving to die, All men are equal? No thats Christian as well. Did you all knoe most Nazis were christian?

I think it's a very interesting topic. If it was written about from a fictional standpoint( based on real events), I would definately read it. From a nonfictional standpoint, not so much. But that's just my own personal preference. And I don't think you being a man has anything to do with anything. Write it!

No I don't think it would be unethical... perhaps contested by many and objected to by many. But I know for a fact as a historian that this is very true. If it is true therefore, as long as you write with respect, why should you remain quite?

The plight of Nazi sex slaves has come to light recently, and was ignored for a long time. Feel free to write about it, remember though they were all victims of a inhumane system.

No, people should be more aware of what went on then in my opinion cause we don't want it ever happening again. I believe that the more aware people are of the truth about the Nazi's the less likely it would be that another holocaust could ever take place.

What do you mean by slaves ? The prisomers germany made or are you referring to the soldiers as slaves which were free to choose between service for the Empier and a shot to the cranium ? I think Nazi-Germany kept sex slaves for its soldiers, so did Japan. Naughty naughty.
