There are two ways to win any battle. The first is confrontation and the other is surrender. Gandhi felt we should surrender to our enemies and win them over with love. Like when two people date and fall into romance, only between nations. It was the essence of his non-violent protests. Have you ever been conquered with love?

I will say not possible, The opponent will not see you as a threat at the moment, but they're far from conquered. And if he desires, you will confront them again. I'm assuming the opponent is physical and love is emotion. If you and the opponent were physical, the weaker will be conquered. If you and the opponent were love, the one with the most love would be conquered.

Absolutely. Maybe that's why the world is in the state it's in. Because there isn't enough love or mercy. Gandhi had right idea and we as people could learn a lot from him if only we took the time. And it doesn't matter what religion you are. I'm catholic yet I can see the wisdom in Gandhi's words. And the Dalai Lama too. Both are great thinkers who deserve a little more recognition.

It depends on the opponent, the situation, the place, the time. I love Ghandi, but I don't think this is a formula for conquering an opponent.

Yes, that is the only way. Genuine love will overcome any opponent. We tend to underestimate the power of love because it is seen as a weakness in times of confrontation but in reality the opposite is true - the lasting affects of love are not visible to the human eye.

Gandhiji was absolutely right. My language for the same message is, when you employ love, you are no more in need to conquer that other person. You wish the best for him, and his need to dominate or conquer you also disappears.

Metaphorically, love thine enemies. That doesn't mena take abuse from them. Pray for them,. lead by example of doing loving traits. It is a generailziation about how to live successfully.

Depending on how much heart the person has you just might be able to but if it doesn't work out, maybe it wasn't meant to be.
