I only use my mobile in extreme emergencies...about twice a year. I've lost the number. How do I find it on the phone ?

Well the easier option is like how the other guys stated phone anyone you know's mobile and Possibly your number will show on there screen,
ok thats providing you had the settings in your phone activated to show your number when calling other people and also your mobile service has that function included as part of your contract be it pay as you use cards or billing sent to your address.
another way is to contact the provider of your mobile service be it optus / vodaphone / 3 / whoever they will be able to help you. Hopefully.... just be prepared for a long wait listening to crappy music untill a service operator assists you..

It's probably stored in your phone. Take a look under your settings for phone info. You'll probably find it in there as your number had to be programmed into the phone in order for it to work in the first place. It has to have a record somewhere.

3 easy ways. either one should work
1.depends on kind of phone equipment u have. generally go to settings and look for something like my phone info.
2. call your phone company - generally 611 from your cell phone and ask them
3. call someone else's cell from your cell and your number will appear on their cell

ring a number from it e.g anothr mobile fone and ur mobile number will come up on that phone, easy :)
