In these days of political correctness, why is it acceptable to call things (insultingly) "gay" and "lame"?

As in "that movie is gay" - It's terrible

or "that comment is lame" It's pathetic.

Lame bugs me as much as game, as after all it means "cripple", not able to walk well, etc.

My middle school aged boys have a habit as calling things "gay"....apparantly the purse I bought last week is gay..I just looked at my son and said, "You know honey, we need to be tolerant and not judge different lifestyles-if my purse is wired to have same gender intercourse with another purse than so be it!"...yeah, my kid thinks I'm nuts..

Because, in moderin culture, something that defines another thing as duragatory, isn't necessarily incorrect. In all actuality, gay means, merrily happy, and lame is lacking the ability of swift movement caused by injury or bodily harm.
So,technically,
'gay' as it as used in a homosexual sense, isn't politically correct.
Words change with time.
Don't let it get ya down.

Actually I don't think it is acceptable, people just do it.
Actually, I don't see what's wrong with lame, but gay is definitely derogatory.
