i have added a dvd burner and the add hardware wizard keeps popping up everytime i turn the computer on, although it works properly,also neither drives will read a blank disc, i have burnt a film in the dvd burner and it worked fine,this wizard is doing my head in.....please help!!!!!

I think the DVD-ROM show better then the CD and DVDs capacity is bigger than CD , ,
But ,, about burn it , , I don't know , ,
maybe it's also because of Merck or there is any mistake or error in computer ,,

Another easy to answer problem with the computer a work bench hard to answer here.

Windows XP will pick up your Burner.

If you can burn a disk the burner is working.

You can't read a blank DVD/CD because it's blank. So there is nothing to read.

The Add Hardware Wizard has found something else not related to the DVD.

Did the DVD drive come with a CD to install it. If it did and did you use it? If you have an installation CD but did not use it, I suggest you put it into the drive when the wizard pops up. Go through the install procedure and point it to the CD for the drivers. Sometimes Windows still thinks that the hardware it detects has not been installed until the right drivers are installed. It may still work without these drivers because it is using Windows universal drivers and not the those specific to your drive.

uninstall the seperatley and then reload it should then pick them up
