Hi

Yes you can. I have one. I was fortunate as I got mine just before there was a change regarding the deposit. If you got one you would have to have proof of occupation, bank statements, utility bills etc ( from the UK). The new ruling is you have to pay a 25% deposit. So for example if the house was R900,000.00, you would need to put £2,250 down cash.

My brother bought his house too and had to pay the 25% deposit but still got his bond.

Standard Bank, FNB, ABSA try these.

U can get a bond but have to pay 20% deposit, because u work outside of south Africa and getting foreign income. Go to the mortgage originators that would be able to assist u. Mortgage SA or BOND EXCEL, their website is very informative. I know cause I use to work for them and we had South Africans working abroad who bought properties back home. By the way their services is free of charge.

You might have a hard time getting one. They would want a address for correspondence to start off with. Maybe they might be accomodating if you give 25 percent deposit (it worked for us when we came to England from SA....no one would help us because we only in the country for 1 year and had no credit history in this country and when we said we could put down 25 percent deposit, they were quiet happy to help) All I can suggest is that you try...........they can only say no. Dont just go to one bank.....try a few..........and good luck

It surprises me that whenever I read the answers to questions by South Africans or any other African national about the possibility of relocating to the UK, I see rude replies that the UK citizens don't want them there - yet it's acceptable the other way around? Seems like double standards to me. Maybe South Africans just have better personalities.
