Ah if that were the case, we would all benefit. Actually in politics we, the people do not vote for the leader at all. We leave that up to the party, and if the party only has so many candidates to choose from then guess what, we get their choice anyway. Take George Bush, please take him! No take George Bush, he had money, a father that was a President and was a Governor in Texas, so who do we end up with.......... George. Sure he is a nice guy, but as President, I don't think so! He could just barely manage a baseball team, and now he is commander in chief, I don't think so! To make matters worse, now they are talking his bro, yeh Jeb for the next Presidency or at least vice Pesident. That is why we in All of the Americas do not have true democracy. That will only come when we allow all of the people we have elected to political office to sit down and to debate who should be the leader of all of those people. Once they select 3 or 4 of them, then the people should hear them out and pick the person that we want to be the leader. Strict guidelines need to be put in place so that the very best of the best are chosen. Not some dude from the list of rich guys who thinks his party might make it and if so then he will be the President because some delegates at a convention who may or may not be swayed into voting one way or the other picked him. This is not democracy but planned dictatorship in the guise of democracy. It will take civilization another 50 years to recognize that the present system is too archaic and needs to be revamped. Democracy is a dream at the present time and those who say we have it now are simply trying to fool everyone so that they can maintain the controls that have been put in place that allow them the present power situation that they have now. This is why the present terrorist activity in the world that we are experiencing right now as painful as it may be will someday perhaps be good for mankind. In just a short number of years societies have put in place certain safeguards that have been needed for years but were always put on back burners. Now those things have to be done or the world will not tolerate their absence. We as a society can now recognize the evil politicians and are beginning to distinguish between what the society wants and what those same politicians desire and they are in a lot of cases not the same at all, ie George Bush and his war on terror. Americans will forever be wary of the politician who wants to invade another country based on what they think he may or may not have ie weapons of mass destruction. Society is slow to change but when the change does come it is costly and effective to weed out the bad. So far we know democracy is a garden of Eden but when we look across the field we are just beginning to spot the weeds that are in the garden. Flowering plants with fruit is what we are after but until the weeds are removed we have much work to do.

Most of the Presidents are great leaders, they have good backgrounds of worthy contributions in the past and some potential as leaders, some in their own countries, some globally! Very dispassionately, with open minds analytically look a t a few of them, you will see the point! It is not for no reason that they have climbed up to the positions that they are in now! It is easy to talk of some flaws in them, but then they are human: but leaders, at that! ( Talk of India, the President gives a lot of guidance to the younger generations, spends time with the handicapped and special children whenever he can spare some time (he does find the time!), writes motivators, he is about to write a column in a leading daily newspaper, he is certainly a friend, philosopher and guide to many political leaders while staying beyond affiliations and he has a top scientist's brain, ticking all the time!)

Presidents are in buildings and controlled environments for their own protection and so that they can surround themselves with mostly supporters so that they don't have to answer any negative questions or have any dissent.

Are you referring to the predident of a country or of a corporation? The question is both well-worded and vague.
