How far? About as far as you can throw an elephant.

Inservice programs meet the requirements mandated by the state as a way of "keeping teachers up to date." They are most often unproductive, boring, and a way to spend more of the taxpayers dollar without guaranteeing a significant return on their dollars.

In the States inservice is a way to educate teachers on current melthods and district curriculums.
