First off, I am guilty... Of bit@hing about Wal*Mart (employee treatment, buying from China, etc.), but I still shop there. They are cheap. Sometimes in price and/or also in products. Does anyone actually go out of their way to never shop at Wally World?

I don't, they're union busters in the worst way and their other human resource practices are borderline criminal. There are other super-marts that aren't as bad as they are.

My daughter does not shop Wal*Mart. She read a book criticizing the store and refuses to shop there. She also claims she makes enough money, therefore she doesn't have to shop there. She likes Target.

I have this same problem with Home Depot. I don't know what your availability to other stores are, but our other choices aren't any better. What I do is place complaints on their hot-line. This produces negative reports nationally. Store managers do not like their high ups receiving complaints. Their butt will receive teeth marks. If you are going to do this, make sure to give as much information as possible. Employee names, day, date, time, and what the problem is.

As far as buying from China, the problem is what America is doing. The cost of labor is forcing us to seek cheaper solutions. I was told (I haven't verified this) airline stewardess start at 25 bucks an hour. Auto factory workers, not including supervisors, average $35 an hour. What makes these people so special? I have my opinions, but I will keep them to myself. But, is not a stewardess nothing more than a waitress? Factories are automated, so why are employees paid so much for easy work? As long as we have this problem, companies will search for cheaper solutions.

Have you noticed the only quality cars are made somewhere else. BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, and all of the expensive sports cars.

We are lucky here. We have a good Wal Mart. I enjoy the selection and prices. I don't buy my electronics there. I shop Best Buy for computers, camaras, TV's because they have very knowledgable people.

I can see from the offset that this particular subject, and it's contributors, are against Wal Mart for one reason or another, but it is also evident that most of these people venting their anger have no idea what it is they're talking about. This sad situation is not the fault of Wal Mart, but of the insurance company, and for this you can thank the insurance board of the individual state and those in the federal government that are supposed to oversee these problems. It also seems that the union people, that are behind most of this anti Wal Mart rhetoric, forget the fact that Wal Mart is not the only store, or group of stores that sell this Chinese junk, but even the so-called high end stores such as "Macy's" Kohles and many other national chains sell exactly the same Chinese stuff as Wal Mart. except at much higher prices. You also seem to forget that millions of people have a weekly paycheck that would otherwise not be there if not for Wal Mart, and before you start with the "low wages" crap, remember that almost all of your fast food outlets pay even less, and with no benefits at all. You would rather shop at Target, or Sears? fine, but look at the labels on the products in their stores, yep, Chinese, surprise? If you people that are getting so uptight about this latest incident, take time to research many more of these insurance claims that are denied for one reason or another, then get on the bandwagon and contact the proper people in charge of these decisions, amybe things will change, but just to blindly start with the "boycott Wal Mart" crap, does nothing except to make you all look like idiots. No, I do not work at Wal Mart, or do I have any relatives working at Wal Mart, but I do shop there, and I have compared not only prices, but items being sold and origin of manufacture, and believe me, most stores are all the same, except Wal Mart is slightly cheaper, and does pay their employees as well as the next store. Many of their employees have been there many years, with no ball and chain holding them down.

If people are going to boycott wal-mart then you must boycott all retail. They all buy from over seas, they all take advantage of the employees and they all are out to make a huge profit.
I worked retail for 8 years, I worked very hard to go up the corp. ladder only to have the favorites be pick for advances. I watched management take advantage of the hourly workers so that they could get there big bonuses. This was a big box home improvement retail that was & is in trouble for not paying the correct overtime to employees in many states.
Look at where the product are made on all the products we own...... MADE IN SOME WHERE OTHER THAN THE USA !
It is a shame the Big Box Corp. sold out to forigin soil so that they could be rich.
I will shop to save, I work hard for my money. All retail are guilty of takeing advantage of us.

Their starting pay is $11/hr and you're complaining about their employee treatment? Geez. Also, without wal-mart, prices at every other retailer would be higher.

Don't buy into the union propaganda crap. Just look at what the unions did to the automotive and airline industries....they are a cancer on our economy.

No.... I love the low prices and though you must pay attention to the quality of some of its products, you can usually get a good price.

I am a SALE shopper so if its cheaper somewhere else...I'm there!!!

Its not just Walmart that falls into your category, it is all over... Walmart simply has gotten huge and the media makes it out to be the bad guy due to everyone else being jealous.

I stop in the local walmart maybe 1-2x's a month. I go if I need something specific....shampoo's, hair dye, snacks, and small household appliance that will be cheapest there. If I boy cot every store that has an issue...I would be locked in the house forever...like...don't drink coke a cola..dont shop at walmart...don't use dell they out-source etc etc....every company in the U.S is out to make the big bucks...its part of life here...so what are we really expected to do?

I don't.

The hype against WalMart is about 99% politically motivated by unions because they won't unionize their employees. Most of the stuff you hear about WalMart is either pure crap or is being done by other companies.

Such as buying from China. Do you know how many companies buy from China? Will you also boycot K-Mart? Sears? Ikea? Target?

What about employee treatment? Did you know that WalMart offers among the best employee benefits among their competitors?

MOST definitely. The hype against them is political and I'd rather have more money in my pocket than spend more else where.
An example of the adage "if you can't beat them, slander them".
