Hi, i have been doing acting all my life along side a very good friend of mine who has landed a main role in hollyoaks, she has been in it for roughly two years now and everytime i see her on screen i think to myself i wish that was me alongside her. I feel my weight is letting me down breaking into the acting industry, so i am going to go on a crash diet and try and lose all of my weight, hopefully this will boost my chances, as i can act but my physical appearence lets me down. Hopefully i will land a role in Hollyoaks or some other TV show when i shed my weight.

Shed weight for your health and don't crash diet you'll only put it back on again...as for not being able to get roles because of your weight,,,look at Dawn French...Lisa Tarbuck...the girl who plays Fizz in Corrie...I think you're just going to the wrong auditions...you KNOW what the cast of Hollyoaks look like ...and you know that at the moment you don't fit the bill...so go for other roles...while following a SENSIBLE weight loss plan...you can join Weight Watchers ONLINE.
Hollyoaks is HARDLY the pinnacle of acting exellence...your friend was probably hired for her looks NOT her acting ability.Be a Judy Dench not a Jessica Simpson.

Be careful with the crash diet. I use to weigh 300 lbs and went on a crash diet for 8 months. Only ate a piece of fruit and water for the day. I lost over 90 lbs and looked great, but my health suffered and i am still struggling to keep my weight down. I understand how you feel and I hope you do get a part in a show you want, but its not worth your life, be careful.

You should never crash diet, its bad for your health and as soon as you start eating properly you will just pile the weight back on. If your weight is really bothering you and your tried other diets etc, try going to the doctor, my sister has been on a diet thing the doctor suggested and helps with, she has lost loads of weight in just a couple of months.
It may not be just your appearance letting you down, if your self-conscience and not confident it will show through in your acting!
I know its hard when friend exceed past you in carers but try to be happy for her and just keep looking to the future for your self and know better things are to come for you!

Its true that appearance is important in TV, but please dont damage your health just to get a part. Must be frustrating seeing your friend on screen, but believe that one day your break will come too. Lose weight sensibly with healthy eating and exercise. Slimming clubs can work too, if you like the idea of having a support network to help you.

Hollyoaks blows. Aim higher. And if you really must lose weight, take up exercise.. crash diets only last so long and you know you'll end up putting it back on some day.
Good luck!

Crash diets aren't healthy. Lose the weight - the slower you lose it the better your chances are to keep it off......then maybe you'll stop lying about acting. Maybe your weight problem is causing you to lack self confidence.

Wouldnt advise the crash dieting. Why not just try eating healthily and exercising regularly?
