You need to set up a separate music library and associate your ipod with that library. When you plug in your ipod it recognizes you and goes to your library, and when he plugs in his, it goes to his library.

I'm' not sure if you know your options when it comes down to connecting your iPod to iTunes. One way is to manually add your music from your iTunes library directly into your iPod icon. Another option (I recommend in your case) is to setup a playlist for each iPod and have the iPod sync with that particular playlist on iTunes every time you connect your iPod to the computer. For example: click the + button on the bottom left corner of iTunes and name your playlist. Create two of them, one for you and one for your boyfriend. This name could be your own or iPod1 and iPod2. Connect your iPod. Once your iPod is connected, click the MUSIC tab and check SYNC MUSIC. Then select SELECTED PLAYLIST and choose your playlist. Now, every time you connect your particular iPod to your computer it will sync all the songs in your exact playlist. Do the exact same procedure for your boyfriends iPod (make sure to select the right playlist). Unfortunately, iTunes doesn't allow you to create two separate accounts for two separate individuals. All your music will have to be in one single library, but at least you both can drag your favorite music into your individual playlists that I had you create for your iPod syncing needs. I hope this helps. Good luck!

If you go to control panel and then user accounts you can set up different user accounts on your computer (one for you and your boyfriend) and each one will have a different itunes library
