I have an Athlon64 3500+ Desktop. Please suggest some Live Linux Distributions which I can use on it apart from Ubuntu. Also suggest some appropriate Linux distributions which will work fine on my old PentiumIII 256MB RAM PC which I use mainly to take classes and demonstrate C++ programs.

Quite frankly, I like to use Slackware because it is NOT bleeding edge but rather stable.

I also like Source Mage Linux. This is a GREAT version if your want total compatability since it downloads the program packages as source files and compiles them locally on the fly for you.

I also like Debian, Ubuntu, Linspire and SuSE Linux distros as well. They all have great points about them and work wonderfully under most environments.

For the ultimate in portability though, give Damn Small Linux (DSLinux) a try.

i think that u may use mandriva linux for Athlon64 3500+ Desktop.
it has all the facilities as that of microsoft windows has.
u can get free latest version of it (ie. Mandriva free 2007")in the website "isolinux.org" wich will be occupying about 4cd's and its looks simple with about 4 desktops . and with all softwares available for working with anything that windows does.......

u may use anyother lighter linux distribution from that same website for ur old one
