I agree cricket is no longer "a gentleman's game" it is now a sport, anyone can play now. it is not restricted to those who consider themselves superior to others anymore.

It may have start off that way. But now as player are more competeness it a professional sport.
Back before helmans was the famous body line serise because England can't get Bardman out, which is not gentleman playing.
Kerri Packer invested in cricket and started limited overs and day night cricket. Player couldn't see the red ball under lights so they change the ball to white and then colour clothing came in and it became the PJ game. Now with morden influtens it colourful then ever.

Gentleman is a word with a lot of snob value. It conjures up images of upper-class men with much leisure time. In today's day and age talent matters more than your social status.
There's been a slow baseballization of cricket. They have to make it a spectator sport. What is wrong with it being a commercial extravaganza as long as viewers enjoy and there is growth all round?

May be you are correct. Gentleman's game has definitely got a beating. Commercial earnings has ruined a beautiful game. Where are the creed of Mr. G.R.V.'s gone, may be hiding behind the glare of focus lights. It's disappointing to see clipping of Mr. Sachin scratching on the balls surface or Mr. Rahul applying 'gum' on the ball. May be I am wrong with our roll models, I sincerely hope I am wrong. Let's hope to enjoy gentleman's game once more.
