The idea is much older than that film.

They eat farm animals, and are seen as a pests, dangerous pests.

Wild dogs and dog like predators (including jackals) have always been seen as evil. In native American folklore it's the coyote, in Europe it's the wolf (and occasionally the fox), the Jackal is the "bad" dog in its own part of the world.

The Jackal has also been used as a symbol for gangs, terrorists, witches and others.

It could be several reasons. They (***) refer to a similarity between Jesus and Osiris and Osiris was betrayed by the Jackal headed (cross between jackal and anteater) Set.

Set was also the god of the desert, storms, etc... sounds like the early YHVH....

Anubis (jackal headed) was said to have given way to Osiris out of respect, and, as an underworld deity, was subsequently identified as being Osiris' son. Abydos, which had been a strong centre of the cult of Anubis, became a centre of the cult of Osiris.

Also, the Jackal is similar to the trickster in animism
