Many Americans feel they want a 'new kind' of leader. Somone who can unit us not divide us. Someone who can go beyond 'base' politics. Who do you see on the horizon who could possibly be this figure?

Colin Powell. He's independent in thought, honest, forthright, fair, and experienced in leadership. He's neither a Republican (Bush fired him as Secretary of State for opposing the Iraqi War), nor a Democrat (he's a moderate on most issues). Problem is he most likely will never run for president.

It seems that a lot of Americans do not want a leader. They want someone to do "what they want". All the great leaders did not do what the people wanted but delivered what was needed. Most presidents that tried to satisfy everyone became the most disastrous. Think of Carter and Grant. The more they gave in to popular opinion the less they could do. Clinton too will wind up portrayed in the light of history as a failure his popularity delivered little in tangible progression.

WOW dingdong actually made an intelligent statement, I am proud!

Too bad that during election time the persons race, religion and political stripes were kept secret. That way only what comes out of their mouth is what matters. Almost like voting for someone based on paper or fact then finding out at the end who it (the person) you voted in. Would eliminate all the political rhetoric and back stabbing

Ghengis Kahn, Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, Vlad the Impaler, Mussolini.
Take the worst bits out of these little cherubs, add a skirt. Hey presto Hillary Clinton.

Take George W. Bush, and then then find someone who is completely the opposite of him, you will then have found the leader that this nation needs.
