Manchester is approx 185 miles (298 km) from London. It is a 4 hour to 4.5 hour (depending on traffic) drive and a 2 hour to 3 hour ride by normal train. You can also take a bus. National Express runs from London to Manchester several times a day. A one way trip starts at around 12 pounds and the trip takes 4.5 hours to 5 hours to complete.

About 185 miles by train It does NOT take 7 hours. Its about 2 hours 40mins by train. Not sure by car but prob. about 4 to 4 and a half hours if you include congestion in manchester and London at both ends
