An audit is an evaluation of an organization, system, process, project or product. In accounting, an audit is an independent assessment of the fairness by which a company's financial statements are presented by its management.
Audits are performed to ascertain the validity and reliability of financial information, and also provide an assessment of a company or a business' system of internal control
It is performed by competent, independent and objective person or persons, known as auditors.

SQL is used to query the data in an organization's database. If an auditor knew SQL, he or she would be able to pull the raw data from the organization's database and organize it in a way that makes analyzing it easier for them instead of relying on someone else to create reports with the right data.
