Margaret Thatcher (shudder!)

2007-01-25 22:12:01 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 3

Hello,

(ANS) No.1 Margaret Thatcher for helping to destroying Britains otherwise good manufacturing industry, for the stupidity of the Faulklands war, for conning women so as to get into power then doing nothing at all to help woman, for the massive waste of moneies that was involved in the privisation of many good UK industrial organisations, for making greed trendy & cool (YAK!!) & so forth.

No.2 Tony Blair for wreaking havoc & chaos on the NHS, for trying to privitise schools bye the back door, for the lying and taking the country into an illegal war in Iraq that 50% or more of the UK population didnt want to get involved in, For the choas & utter crass stupidity that is the Home Office farse when it should have been split down into about 4 depts let alone x2.

And finally, for clinging onto power as prime minister when he knows all too well he should have gone months ago. He's like a limpett clinging for dear life to the parilamentary rock, what will it take to get rid of him?? The sooner Blair leaves office the better, good bye to Arrogant throughly dishonest man.

ted heath or harold wilson..
lost control of the country and the economy..during the late 60s and 70s
took us into the common market,
oversaw bloody sunday,
devaluation of the pound,
rise of trade union power
the three day week..
racial turmoil with the sus laws
the country was a mess
and a laughing stock

it took a strong hand in the early 80s to turn the country around.. although after doing this mrs. thatcher then took the country into recession but she changed the face of british polotics forever... the diference now between labour and conservative are very slight as she managed to not only managed to kill off socialism in britain, but she nailed the coffin shut and buried it forever.....

I think it's difficult to say who's the worst as you need to consider what state the country was in when they were in office.
In my (voting) lifetime I'll go for Thatcher... good at promoting British interests on the international stage, but a disaster at home. I wasn't old enough to vote in the 70s but we had poxy PMs then.

Callaghan and Thatcher are certainly in there, but for sheer incompetence and ineffectiveness you need to consider Douglas Home - briefly and tragically finding himself elected leader of our country. However, at least he didn't come back from a summit with Hitler waving what he believed was a peace treaty that turned out not to be worth a damn.

Sir Alec Douglas Hulme, without a doubt, spineless fellow as I recall

Thatcher upset people, but she was a hell of a leader, anyone who says she was a bad prime minister are obviously shallow people who have never thought for themselves,

She not only finished off the miners, she destroyed the far left element of the labour party, both those are grand achievements

Lord Callaghan by a mile.

To be fair for all of you saying Thatcher, whilst her domestic policy was terrible her International policies were brilliant. After the dismal 60s and worse 70s Maggie helped push the UKs international image to the front stage again and make the UK believe in itself. Her handling of the Falkland's crisis helped Britain unite and believe in itself again.
Poll tax was terrible - a ridiculous mistake made by her, but if it weren't for that she'd go down as one of the greatest leaders in UK history.

I thought it was John Major or Jim Callaghan until Tony Blair came along.

Tony Blair
He has used his religion to take us into an illegal war, he has helped kill thousands of people and made us pay for it. We are now a terrorist threat for something that we shouldn't be part of.
Money is going out of the country when its needed here. I know some of the others were bad but he has put us in danger.
