All UK homes for sale from June will require an inspection, I hear there is a huge shortage of Inspectors. Does anyone know if this is worth going into?

This is a very frustrating and difficult career to get into. For many inspectors this is a very stressful with constant concerns of litigation. Many experienced inspectors seem to last less than 7 years in this business, before burn out or bankruptcy beats them down.
Ten Important Prerequisites
1. Years of experience in the construction business or in one of the construction trades are required.
2. Not scared to climb and walk on roofs.
3. Complete several specialized courses like Heating Inspection, Electrical Inspection, Plumbing Inspection, Structural Inspection, Roofing Inspection, Cooling Inspection, Exterior Inspection, Interior & Insulation Inspection, Ontario Building Code Part 9 – Building Envelope, Ontario Building Code Part 9 – House - Health & Safety, Ontario Association of Home Inspectors – Defect Recognition & Reporting Course etc. - Cost $8000 or more and take about 2 years of weeknights and weekends.
4. A truck or van, ladders, cell phone, business phone line, laptop, inspection tools etc.
5. Reporting system – either computerized or check off with comments or written. To write proper comments must be fluent in English and correct construction terminology. Also should have clear understanding about different repair methods and the exact cost associated with each type of repairs.
6. It is really a challenge to take training with a practicing home inspector, since most inspectors do not want to lose their business to competition. If 50% of the monthly average of 4500 resale home sales in Toronto Area needs inspection, there are 2250 inspections to be done monthly by over 275 Inspectors currently practicing in Toronto. That is less than 9 inspections per month per Inspector.
7. After joining the professional association, must go through lots of hoops and steps and take months before allowed to practice inspection.
8. Error & Omission Insurance & Commercial General Liability Insurance - Cost about $6000 per year.
9. A very understanding spouse willing to support and pay all the bills. In winter, there is next to no inspection due to the slow season in the real estate world.
10. Additional money to spend on advertisements.
