nothing much, its the same as others town in Malaysia but its also one of the departure point for ferry going to Langkawi Island, from Kuala Kedah [ 15 to 20 minutes away from Alor Setar ]. Since its located in the state of Kedah, Friday is the official off-day ! There you can find some very delicious Laksam, not exactly like Laksa but taste as good ! n not forget the nira drink ! its one of the most wonderful drink i have ever consumed ! one must try while being there ! ! ! On your way going to Alor Setar, you would see lots of padi field, seemingly endless !
as for 'shah' who lived in the jungle with jungle mentality just like 'juan m' , sorry n shame of you, don't even know where n what is Alor Setar !
