Suppose they each complete a 1,000 question multiple choice exam with every possible question relative to their electability. Then, the American people would have a better insight as to a candidate's positions. Their answers could be posted on the internet for instant access.

This is a wonderful idea. Except I would raise the bar. Instead of multiple choice lets make it in the form of open questions where they could write (explain) their position fully.

Who cares if the majority fail to read and educate themselves? I mean it would be a bonus round but there will be some slugs among us always so we must have the attitude to leave them in the dust if they so choose.

I like the one suggestion to give them a drug test and post the results as well. Periodic and random would be even better. Do you really want drug addicts (Senator Obama has openly admitted his weakness/propensity for cocaine) in public office. Why would anyone seek to lower the bar rather than raise the standards?

If you truly want to see this happen, get in touch with me. Instead of merely talking about it let's make it happen. Where there's a will, there's a way.

you are forgetting that so many people don't remember past yesterday. they wouldn't read the whole thing to begin with, and then wouldn't think about it or remember it when it came time to vote.
it is a good idea though, and as several others have said, it would be a great move to have drug testing involved too. a lie detector test would get rid of all the candidates , so it isn't a good idea, or maybe we should, and then let the best of the lot run.
this is a good plan though, and could happen if enough people got together about it. if you are serious, get this started , and I will certainly back you.

I think it would be better to give them a lie detector test and a piss test. That would probably cut the ranks by 75% at least.

Except no one would read it. We can't even get 50% of the voters to the voting centers.

Please, add in mandatory urine, blood and hair folicle testing.
Fail the test and go straight to jail for life.
OOPS!
There went all the liberal candidates!
