It was best described to me by a lady leaving a meeting of the group sponsoring the local total ban legislation now before my city ----- When asked-- now that there is no smoking in every single place of any interest at all to the non-smoking public--and only a hand full of places that still allow it ----what is it that you people want ??
She looked at me with a very smug grin on her face and replied---"we want it all !!"

My reply to this is--- when they've taken down the tobacco industry from the consumer side (which is what all this is really about !!) The multiplied BILLIONS in taxes levied against tobacco are going to have to come from somewhere----The agencies and bureau's operating on these funds are simply NOT going to close down and not need money any more !! So, the non-smoker is going to be hit with new taxes (it's already started in increments ) that they haven't even Guessed at !! The sum of which will have people THRILLED to have smokers lighting up again from sea to shining sea !!!!!!!!!

Mostly because they may not like their answer. Remember that even if the entire work force of a company voted smoking and the owner voted smoking, a non smoker who walked in to do business would be subjected to second hand smoke and would start whining. However as a smoker of 34 years I do not smoke inside at home. I found that when I do I wake up with my lungs full of fluid. I was shocked last November to walk into a restaurant in NC and see an ashtray. I was not offended I just remembered when America was free. Then I grinned and lit up after my meal without having to go outside.

The business owners are not the ones breathing the second hand smoke, it's the employees. Non-Smoking legislation is designed to protect the employees.
